I started noticing how much of my day was organised around my job. Even the hours outside work were spent preparing for it or recovering from it. So I began questioning what would happen if I stopped centring work and started reclaiming my time.
I had a good job, a career path and was ticking all the boxes for success. But the job I needed because I needed money was also increasing how much money I needed. I started questioning whether I was succeeding at something I actually wanted.
I just wanted to light a fire in my backyard. But that simple desire led me to question why I needed money, land and a job to live the way I wanted. Money was the first bar of the cage I could clearly see.
I'm a Tasmanian Aboriginal woman exploring what it means to decolonise my life. This is a space to share my experiences, the questions I'm asking and the things I'm learning along the way.
